Ometepe

Ometepe island is and was once a sacred island before the Spanish conquerors came to the new world, our native ancestors tribes, descending from a pre-Aztec period in Mexico believed in a prophesy which spoke of a sacred island with twin volcanoes that stood in the middle of a great ocean of fresh water. These prophesy was fulfilled when they found Ometepe Island in Lake Nicaragua. A prophesy that till this day has not been forgotten.

They have to dig caves in which as a tourist you may enter and explore the deep gold mines and interact with the gold mining families. River San juan

River San Juan is in fact the most important river in Nicaragua, Historically and Ecologically, it is the resting place to many species of reptiles, birds, mammals, amphibians and in General Wildlife. It is a trip t the jungle and the return in time to an era of piracy. The river San Juan was used in the 1600s as a strategic place for attacks n the colonial city of Granada. Later in the 1700s it was fortified by a castle that still today stands strong. Finally this river was used in the mid 1850s as the transit route by Cornelius Vanderbilt for the Gold rush of California of 1849.The Panama Canal was not yet built.
